Postdoctoral Fellowships in Responsible ML at UCSD

We invite applications for Postdoctoral Fellows in Responsible Machine Learning at UCSD.

Focus

Fellows will work with Professors Berk Ustun and Lily Weng to address emerging challenges in the fairness, robustness, explainability, and safety of machine learning models.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline. In particular, we seek candidates who have a track record in developing theory or methods as demonstrated through publications at top-tier venues in machine learning (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, JMLR, KDD, AAAI, AISTATS, FAccT, UAI) or their current discipline.

We are especially interested in candidates who have expertise in one or more of the following topics: optimization, mathematical programming, causal inference, human-computer interaction, and deep learning. We also welcome candidates who have a track record of mentorship, developing models in real-world applications, and software development experience in Python.

Start Date

We have multiple positions that can start in Summer 2024. Appointments are expected to span up to two years, with the potential for renewal for a third year based on mutual interest.
